San Francisco, Calif. - The No. 1 Butte women's basketball team outlasted No. 19 Sequoias, 46-44, to capture its third-straight tournament title at the City College of San Francisco Tournament on Saturday.
Sophomore Madalynn Bassett and freshman Campbell Vieg were named to the All-Tournament Team, while freshman Morgan Trigueiro was tabbed the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Freshman Jocelyn Medina led the Roadrunners with 12 points against the Giants on 4-of-6 shooting, adding six rebounds. Bassett and Vieg both added six points apiece, while four Roadrunners tallied five boards.
Butte (16-1) has a long break before heading to the Okawa Classic, hosted by East Los Angeles College. THe team will face San Bernardino Valley first on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 3 p.m.
