Butte College Faces Road Struggles Against Defending State Finalist West Valley

After a hot start to the 2025 season, the Butte College Roadrunners have hit some bumps on the road, facing challenges against the defending state finalist West Valley Vikings. Due to poor weather in Butte County, the three-game series was moved from Butte's home field to the turf of West Valley, adding another obstacle for the Roadrunners.

Butte opened the series with a strong start from Jordan Riley, who delivered seven solid innings before exiting with the game tied. However, the Roadrunners' bullpen was unable to hold off the Vikings, leading to a tough loss.

Saturday's doubleheader proved to be a difficult test for Butte. In the first game, West Valley's offense overwhelmed the Roadrunners, forcing an early finish due to the 10-run rule with a final score of 12-2.

In the series finale, Butte showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks and scoring six runs. Alonso Rivera played a key role, walking three times and scoring twice. Despite the offensive efforts, the Roadrunners couldn't break through for a win in the second game of the day.

Butte will look to regroup and get back on track as they prepare for their upcoming matchup with the Napa College Storm on Monday, the Roadrunners aim to bounce back and return to their early-season form.
