Butte sweeps Siskiyous to setup match-up with Lassen

Friday Aptril 4th: Butte 6, College of the Siskiyous 5

The Roadrunners kicked off the series with a dramatic 6-5 win over College of the Siskiyous. Butte came out swinging, scoring in each of the first three innings. Grant Sonke set the tone with a leadoff double in the first, eventually scoring on a Luke Zuromski bunt single. In the second, a walk to Jason Olsen followed by a double from Trent Van Nuys set up Aidan Santos for a sacrifice bunt that tied the game at 2. The third inning saw more production as Butte capitalized on defensive miscues and an Olsen double to push across another run.

In a tight back-and-forth battle, the score remained tied into the ninth. Santos sparked the game-winning rally with a single and was driven in by pinch hitter Jaden Thomson. The game ended in thrilling fashion: with two runners on and one out in the bottom of the ninth, Sonke made a clutch catch in left field and fired home to complete a double play, securing the win for Butte. Nathan Brown earned the save after a tense final frame.
