Athletics Announces 2022 Hall of Fame Class

Oroville, Calif. - The Butte College Athletics Department is pleased to announce its 2022 Hall of Fame Class: Lisa Mispley Fortier (Women's Basketball), Teivaskie Lewin (Men's Track and Field), Derrick Miramontes (Baseball), Joddie Vossler-Gleason (Women's Basketball - Head Coach), and Danny Watkins (Football).

"I am so excited to announce the first Butte Athletics Hall of Fame class since COVID-19 postponed our annual induction ceremonies," Butte College Director of Health, Kinesiology, and Athletics Melody Stockwell said. "I continue to be so impressed and humbled by the rich athletics tradition that Butte College has created over the years, and I look forward to celebrating with this year's inductees."

Tickets are on sale now for the 2022 Butte Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony through the Butte Athletics Box Office. Single tickets are $50, and a table of eight (8) is $375. The 2022 ceremony will take place on Friday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the new Kinesiology & Athletics Performance Center (KAPC) with a pregame ceremony prior to the Butte football game against San Francisco on Saturday, Sept. 17. All inductees will also be honored at halftime of the game.

Lisa Mispley Fortier | Guard | Women's Basketball

Lisa Mispley Fortier competed for the Butte women's basketball team from 2000-02 under the leadership of Joddie Vossler-Gleason. During her tenure, the Roadrunners advanced to the third round of the NorCal playoffs before advancing to the Elite Eight during her final season.

After her two years at Butte, the guard from Grass Valley, Calif., transferred to California State University, Monterey Bay, where she was named All-Cal Pac Conference, NAIA Academic All-America, and CSUMB Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Fortier has served as the head women's basketball coach at Gonzaga University since 2014, where she is the only coach in program history to have seven 20-win seasons in their first eight seasons, most recently with the 27-7 mark posted in 2021-22. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSUMB in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in human communications and earned her master's degree in sport and athletic administration from Gonzaga in 2006. She and her husband, who is an assistant coach on the Gonzaga women's basketball staff, have three children, sons Marcus and Calvin, and daughter Quincy.

Teivaskie Lewin | Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps | Men's Track and Field

Teivaskie Lewin paced the Butte men's track and field team from 2012-13, capturing two 110-meter high hurdles state titles and the CCCAA long jump championship in 2013 under head coach Robby Snelling.

After exhausting his community college eligibility, he transferred to the University of South Dakota, where he was named a NCAA All-American in the 60-meter hurdles in 2015 and tabbed the Summit League Track Athlete of the Year twice with a Summit League Track Championship MVP award in 2015. He broke the South Dakota program and state record in the 60-meter hurdles during the indoor season by clocking 7.77 seconds in the NCAA Preliminaries to move on to the finals. Lewin finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2015 NCAA Championships, while also qualifying for the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 110-meter hurdles. Lewin was a seven-time Summit League champion during his Coyote career.

After competing, he remained at his alma mater, currently an assistant coach for the track and field program and overseeing sprints and hurdles. As a coach, he has directed a two-time Summit League Track Athlete of the Year, two All-Americans, and 18 Summit League champions, overall capturing 44 All-Summit League honors and nine Academic All-Summit League honors.

Lewin hails from Montego Bay, Jamaica, earning a bachelor's degree in communications in 2016. He graduated from South Dakota with his master's degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2018.

Derrick Miramontes | Right-Handed Pitcher | Baseball

Derrick Miramontes, a native of Durham, Calif., played baseball for the Roadrunners from 2006-07 under head coach Anthony Ferro. During his time in Oroville, the right-handed pitcher, who played catcher all four years of high school, was named a two-time All-GVC First Team selection, two-time All-NorCal, and the 2006 GVC Pitcher of the Year. He led the program to a GVC title, posting a 3.43 ERA with a 10-4 record, fanning 67 in 99.2 innings as a rookie. In his sophomore campaign, he went 6-4 with a 3.03 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 101 innings.

After Butte, he transferred to the University of Chicago-Illinois (NCAA Division I), where in his rookie season with the Flames was tabbed the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year and named to the All-Horizon League Second Team and Horizon League All-Newcomer Team. As a senior, he transitioned from starting pitcher to closer and ultimately signed with the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League. Overall at UIC, he posted a 3.41 ERA with a 12-2 record, pitching three complete games, tallying seven saves, and fanning 82 on 142.2 innings pitched.

In the minors, reached as high as AA, overall throwing 76 complete with 64 strikeouts and a pair of saves. He made 35 total appearances, including 10 starts. 

Joddie Vossler-Gleason | Head Coach | Women's Basketball

Joddie Vossler-Gleason has been just as successful as a player as a coach. Her career started at Colusa High School, where she was an eight-time All-League selection, three-time conference MVP, and led her teams to six league titles. She then moved on to Chico State where she was named the Northern California Athletic Conference Player of the Year, averaging 18.2 points per game as a senior. She was also named a Kodak All-American, and at the time of her departure, she held the school record for points, blocked shots, rebounds, free throws, and shooting percentage.

She served as head women's basketball coach at Butte from 1999-04, compiling a 107-45 overall record in five seasons, including three undefeated conference titles.

Vossler-Gleason currently serves as the head coach of the Eastern Washington women's basketball program, a role she took over in May 2021. She joined the Eagles after five successful seasons as Seattle University's associate head coach and 12 years of head coaching experience at Humboldt State. 

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (1992), a teaching credential (1994) and a Master of Arts in Kinesiology (2000) from California State University, Chico.
 
Gleason and her husband, Skip, who also serves as associate head coach at EWU, have one daughter, Raimee. 

Danny Watkins | Offensive Tackle | Football

Despite never playing football prior to stepping foot on Butte College's campus, Danny Watkins competed for the Roadrunners from 2007-08 as an offensive lineman under the direction of head coach Jeff Jordan. Watkins attended Butte College for its fire academy and ultimately joined the team in 2007. The Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada native was ranked as high as No. 39 on Rivals.com junior college top 100 and No. 56 on SuperPrep's Juco top 100 coming out of Butte. He was named a 2008 First Team All-American by the JC Athletic Bureau, as well as Region I All-California First Team as sophomore. He wrapped his community college career by leading the Roadrunners to perfect 11-0 season and 2008 CCCAA championship.

He then transferred to Baylor University, earning accolades such as being invited to the 2011 Senior Bowl and NFL Draft Scouting Combine. As a junior, he was named to the Rotary-Lombardi Award watch list and All-Big 12 First Team. 

Post Baylor he was rated the No. 1 guard prospect in 2011 NFL Draft by ESPN's Mel Kiper, ultimately being drafted 23rd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles, while also being drafted fourth overall in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft by his hometown B.C. Lions, despite only four years of organized football experience and growing up playing hockey. He also played for the Miami Dolphins for one season in 2013.

Once retired from the NFL in 2014, Watkins returned to Texas and now serves as the Fire Captain for the City of Dallas, while also a Rescue Swimmer and a Rescue Specialist in the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue system. He currently resides near Fort Worth, Texas, and has twin children, William and Avery.
