Baseball Wraps Series at Yuba with 13-4 Win

Marysville, Calif - Sophomore Landon Gomes went 4-for-6 with three doubles to boost the Butte baseball team to a 13-4 series finale win at Yuba on Tuesday afternoon. The win marks the third series that the Roadrunners have swept this season.

Gomes scored three runs with a RBI. Sophomore Ryan McCarthy posted another multi-hit game, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, and freshman Jason Olsen made his one hit of the game count with a three-run homer in the sixth. Sophomore Connor Pawlowski also tallied a multi-hit game with a 2-for-3 outing with a pair of runs.

The Roadrunners used a six-pitcher staff to capture the win with sophomore Luke Stuber (1-0) counting the win, tossing a one-hitter in two innings with three strikeouts. Sophomore Ian Sweringen started the game, while freshman Lloyd Sapanza threw a hitless ninth to close the contest.

Butte (9-2) returns home to host American River in the first of a three-game series on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
