Baseball Extends Streak to Nine with Doubleheader Sweep of Redwoods

Oroville, Calif. - The Butte baseball team extended its winning streak to nine with a pair of wins over Redwoods, 7-1 and 14-6, on Tuesday afternoon.

In game one, sophomore Landon Gomes led the Roadrunners at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double, stolen base, and three RBI. 

Freshman Shaw Lee picked up his first career win, tossing six complete, while scattering three hits, fanning six, and not giving up an earned run.

Sophomore Evan Stauch had the hot bat in game two, going a perfect 3-for-3 and just missing the cycle by a double. He racked up three RBI, while scoring three runs. Gomes and sophomores John Lanterman and Aidan Moore all tallied multi-hit games with all three earning a double. Lanterman and Moore chalked up a pair of RBI each, while Gomes earned three.

On the bump, freshman Lloyd Sapanza earned the win, his first career, on 1.1 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts.

Butte (27-4, 15-2) wraps up the five-game series at Redwoods with the first games coming as a doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 14 beginning at 12 p.m.
