Baseball Splits Final Twinbill at Lassen

Susanville, Calif. - The Butte baseball team split its final twinbill with Lassen, falling in game one 9-7 before rebounding with an 8-3 win, on Saturday afternoon.

In game one, sophomore Evan Stauch went yard for his lone hit of the game to count a pair of RBI, while sophomores Landon Gomes and Jake Agarwal both went 2-for-5 with Gomes tallying three RBI.

On the mound, sophomore Hayden Bode (1-1) was charged with the loss, entering the game in relief in the sixth and tossing 1.2 innings. He relieved starter freshman Hunter Timothy, while freshman Shaw Lee closed the game for the Roadrunners.

Agarwal and sophomore Danelle Daniels had the hot bats in game two. Daniels went 2-for-5, but his two hits were homers, counting four RBI. Agarwal went 3-for-5 with four RBI, batting in the go-ahead run in the seventh before helping add a pair of insurance runs in the ninth on a double. Stauch also added a pair of doubles, while Gomes and freshman Jason Olsen each earned a double on their two-hit outings.

Sophomore Bryson Reif improved to 6-0 in his 6.1 inning outing, allowing only six hits while striking out three. Sophomore Kyle Kucich closed the game, tallying his fifth save of the season on his 2.2 inning, two-hit appearance.

Butte (32-5, 20-3) begins the last week of the regular season hosting Feather River on Thursday, Apr. 27. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
