Baseball Edges Feather River to Capture GVC Crown

Oroville, Calif. - The Butte baseball team edged Feather River, 6-5, to capture the Golden Valley Conference crown on Thursday afternoon.

The championship is the first full regular season title since 2016, but the Roadrunners won the GVC in 2021 during the abbreviated COVID-19 season.

Freshman Carter Lyons went 3-for-4, scoring three runs, while sophomore Landon Gomes went 3-for-5 with a double and pair of RBI. Sophomore Evan Stauch also recorded a multi-hit outing, going 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Sophomore Carson Seeman earned the win to improve to 9-1, tossing six complete and fanning three. Sophomore Caleb Schaeffer earned his first save of the season, allowing no earned runs with a pair of strikeouts.

Butte (33-5, 21-3) wraps up the regular season, heading to Feather River on Friday, Apr. 28 for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.
