No. 7 Baseball Late Rally Comes Up Short Against No. 18 Cosumnes River

Oroville, Calif. - The late rally by the No. 7 Butte baseball team came up short against No. 18 Cosumnes River, as the Hawks took a 3-2 game one edge despite a one-out, ninth-inning homer by sophomore Evan Stauch on Friday afternoon.

Stauch recorded the lone hit for the Roadrunners, belting one over left center to score sophomore Danelle Daniels in the final frame.

Despite only one hit, Butte counted seven base runners in the game, including Daniels' reaching in the ninth after being hit by pitch.

Sophomore Carson Seeman (9-2) was charged with the loss after tossing seven complete, giving up four hits, while fanning four. Freshman Lloyd Sapanza closed the game with two scoreless, hitless innings with a strikeout.

Butte (33-7) will look to even the series on Saturday, May 6. First pitch for game two is scheduled for 11 a.m.
