No. 7 Baseball Edged Late in Season Finale against No. 18 Cosumnes River

Oroville, Calif. - The seventh-seeded Butte baseball team struck first, but was edged late by 18th-seeded Cosumnes River, 3-2, in the Roadrunners' season finale on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Landon Gomes made his one hit of the game count, belting a homer to left field to score sophomore Aidan Moore and give the Roadrunners an early 2-0 edge in the third. Gomes also added a stolen base. Freshman Carter Lyons went 1-for 2 at the plate, adding a pair of walks, while Moore counted the team's other hit.

Freshman Hunter Timothy (4-3) was charged with the loss, throwing 7.1 innings with five strikeouts and allowing only six hits. Sophomore Bryson Reif completed the game with a pair of strikeouts against three total batters faced.

Butte finished the 2023 season with a 33-8 record, winning the Golden Valley Conference title for the first time since 2021; first normal season title since 2016.
