Four Baseball Student-Athletes Ink with Four-Year Schools

Oroville, Calif. - Four Butte baseball players have inked to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level, announced Thursday.

Ryan McCarthy (OF) signed with NCAA Division II Central Washington, Bryson Reif (LHP) and Carson Seeman (RHP/INF) inked with NCAA Divsion I Southern Indiana, and Caleb Schaeffer (RHP) is heading to NCAA Division II Cal State East Bay.

McCarthy played in 68 games for the Roadrunners over his career, batting a career .291 with 11 doubles, one triple, and 10 home runs. He tallied 55 RBI, 41 walks, and two stolen bases.

Reif made 18 appearances on the bump with a 7-1 overall record with 11 starts and 4.03 ERA. He tossed a total of 58.0 innings, fanning 69 (10.71 k/9).

Seeman made an immediate impact in his one season with the Roadrunners. On the mound, he was named the 2023 GVC Pitcher of the Year after starting 13 games with a 9-2 overall record. He earned a 2.85 ERA with 67 strikeouts (7.35 k/9), tossing two complete games on 82.0 innings pitched. In the box, he batted .276 with four doubles and two homers. He added 21 RBI and 13 walks with 15 runs scored.

And Schaeffer appeared in 24 games over his career on the hill, posting a 3-1 record on 44.0 innings pitched with one save. He posted a 4.50 ERA with 46 strikeouts (9.41 k/9).

The quartet is just the beginning of a slew of signings for the Roadrunners.
