Baseball Takes Opening Series against Solano, 2-1

Fairfield, Calif. - The Butte baseball team opened its 2024 campaign, taking the series over Solano after winning the final two contests. 

In game one, the Roadrunners fell 9-5 at Solano. Freshman Luke Zuromski went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and a RBI, while freshman Jaden Thomson posted a 2-for-3 outing. Sophomore Connor Pawlowski recorded the team's other extra-base hit with a double. 

Sophomore Hunter Timothy (0-1) was charged with the loss on the hill, allowing four earned runs with a pair of strikeouts, tossing four complete.

Freshman Aiden Santos went yard in game two to help lead the Roadrunners to a 12-3 win. Santos went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, while three other Roadrunners recorded a pair of hits each.

On the bump, freshman Mason Ali (1-0) tallied the win, coming in relief in the fifth inning. Ali scattered three hits, while fanning four in 3.1 innings pitched.

In the series finale, Zuromski stayed hot with a double and drawing a pair of walks, adding a RBI.

Sophomore Shaw Lee (1-0) had a solid outing, tossing a two-hitter with eight strikeouts over seven innings. Freshman Brandon Doran counted the save, allowing a pair of hits with three strikeouts.

Butte (2-1) returns home to host Skyline in a three-game series beginning on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m.
