Baseball Completes Sweep of American River

Oroville, Calif. - Freshman Carter Imbach went yard to lift the Butte baseball team to a 4-3 series finale win over American River on Friday afternoon. The Roadrunners swept the Beavers, taking game one, 5-2, and game two, 3-2.

Imbach batted 3-for-9 in the series with a double and home run, adding a pair of RBI. His go-ahead home run in the bottom of the seventh broke the knotted game after American River took the early 3-0 lead in the second inning.

Freshman Aidan Robles boosted the Roadrunners at the plate in game two, going 1-for-3 with three RBI with a two-RBI double. Overall, he tallied five RBI in the series.

At the plate, freshman Jaden Thomson recorded a multi-hit outing in game one, while sophomore Carter Lyons went 2-for-4 in game two and 2-for-3 in game three with a stolen base.

On the mound, sophomore Hunter Timothy (2-2) captured the series-opening win, tossing eight complete and fanning eight. Freshman Jordan Riley (1-1) earned the game two win in relief, throwing a one-hitter over 5.2 innings with nine strikeouts. And freshman Mason Ali (3-0) was the pitcher of record in game three, allowing only a pair of hits over three innings of work.

Butte (8-6) wraps non-conference play on Monday, Feb. 19, hosting Yuba for a single game beginning at 1 p.m.
