Ferro Earns 500th Career Win as Roadrunners Cage Cougars to Take Conference Series

Susanville, Calif. - The Butte baseball team extended its winning streak to 11, defeating Lassen, 15-4, giving head coach Anthony Ferro his 500th career win on Saturday afternoon.

The win closed the series in favor of the Roadrunners, who came back from being down two games in the first half of conference play.

Butte opened the game with an early 2-0 lead in the opening frame and never looked back after a leadoff single from sophomore Jackson Parmenter. Freshman Trent Van Nuys later knocked in a pair of runs, capitalizing on a Lassen error.

After picking up a run in the third, freshman Carter Imbach counted a solo shot in the fifth to keep the Roadrunners ahead by a pair of runs despite Lassen picking up home runs in the second and fourth innings to stay close.

But freshman Aidan Robles broke things wide open in the top of the seventh on a full count with freshman Drew Carrington and sophomore Connor Pawlowski in scoring position, making his first career home run count to give the Roadrunners a 7-2 cushion late in the game.

Lassen continued to try to chip away at the Roadrunners' lead, earning a run in both the seventh and eighth, but an eight-run ninth by Butte sealed the win and career win 500 for Coach Ferro.

Sophomore Shaw Lee (7-2) earned the win on the hill for Butte after throwing five complete, allowing only four hits, while fanning four. Freshman Mason Ali made his third appearance of the week, second of the weekend, tossing the final scoreless inning.

Butte (27-10, 19-4) remains on the road, looking to clinch its second-straight GVC title at Feather River on Thursday, Apr. 25 at 2 p.m.
