Bio

Frankie Cleary joined the Butte baseball staff in 2022 and serves at the pitching coach, while assisting in all the day-to-day operations with an emphasis on recruiting. He was promoted to associate head coach in December 2023.

"I am absolutely thrilled to have Coach Cleary running our staff and helping run our program," Butte baseball head coach Anthony Ferro said. "I thoroughly enjoyed coaching Frankie at the collegiate level, and I will now enjoy working with him on the field. He is a great person with off-the-charts character. The players will gravitate to him. And he will be invaluable to our program."

Cleary led the 2019 Roadrunner squad on the mound with the most appearances and eight saves. He was named All-GVC Second Team pitching honors in his rookie season at Butte in 2019, but suffered an elbow injury in his sophomore season, coupled with the season being shortened due to COVID-19. After his two seasons at Butte, Cleary transferred to Salem University (NCAA Division II) in Salem, W.V.

During his first season with the Tigers, Cleary had only six appearances on the mound due to complications with COVID-19. But in his final season, he took to the mound both as a starter and reliever, pitching 75.1 innings with 81 strikeouts. He led the team in innings pitched and ERA, while tossing two complete-game shutouts.

Prior to his time at Butte, Cleary played four years of varsity baseball at Paradise High School before taking a gap year from baseball during the 2018 season.

Cleary graduated from Salem University with a BA in Administration of Justice. He resides in Chico, Calif.
