Harper Named Academic All-American

Austin, Texas - Former quarterback and track and field student-athlete Brian Harper has been named a 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Men's At-Large College Division Team, announced Tuesday.

Harper is the lone California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) honoree on the seven-man list, boasting a 3.94 GPA and earning a pair of degrees (AA - Social and Behaviorial Sciences; AA-T - Kinesiology) while with the Roadrunners. He transferred to Weber State to continue his football career after the Fall 2021 semester.

Harper was also an All-National NorCal League selection, starting all 11 contests at quarterback, adding a NCFC Scholar-Athlete accolade last season. He competed in track and field during the COVID-19 shortened 2020 and 2021 seasons.

The college division includes two-year institutions, Canadian institutions, and any United States four-year institutions that are not affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA.

Harper is the second CCCAA male selection since the CoSIDA College Division included two-year colleges in the 2018-19 academic year, joining Long Beach City College's baseball student-athlete Mark Stanford.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and must be nominated by an active, dues-paying CoSIDA member. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, as well as pitchers must have at least 10.0 innings pitched. Additionally, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
