Football Upended by Fresno in Northern California Bowl

Oroville, Calif. - The Butte football team was upended by Fresno, 13-10, in the Northern California Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

Through steady rain and temperatures in the 40's, both teams struggled to control the ball with five combined turnovers and five turnovers on downs.

Sophomore Tanner Hughes led the Roadrunner offense with 7-for-16 passing for 74 yards and 28 rushing yards, resulting in the team's lone touchdown. 

Sophomore Caleb Ramseur led the rushing corp with 59 yards, while sophomore DJ Jackson paced the receivers corp with a pair of receptions for 35 yards.

The defense had a solid day, led by the Defensive Player of the Game, freshman Aiden Sullivan. Sullivan recorded a game-high 10 tackles, nine solo, with four tackles for loss for seven yards, including one sack for three yards. Freshman Spencer Osborn tallied eight tackles with one for loss for 10 yards, while sophomore Grant Garretson added seven tackles with a pair of tackles for loss for 13 yards and a sack for nine yards.

Butte wraps the 2022 season with a 7-4 overall record, 4-1 in league.
