No. 7 Roadrunners Blank DVC in Home Opener

Oroville, Calif. - The No. 7 Butte football team blanked Diablo Valley, 51-0, in the Roadrunners' home opener on Saturday afternoon.

The Roadrunners racked up 387 total yards of offense, led by sophomore quarterback Rieger Sayre's 164 passing yards and sophomore running back Christian Vaughn's 113 rushing yards. Both tallied a pair of touchdowns each.

Sophomore wideout Da'Ron Finkley led all receivers with a 51-yard reception, while freshman running back Takeshi Faupula tallied a 37-yard rushing attempt with 45 total yards on the day.

On defense, sophomore defensive back Cameron Carr counted a score on a pick six for 25 yards in the third quarter, while sophomore linebacker Gabe Foster paced the defense with seven tackles including a tackle for loss assist for two yards. Sophomore Aiden Sullivan made his four tackles count, racking up a pair of tackles for loss, including a 10-yard sack with freshman Dylan Labarbera also tallying a pair of tackles for loss and a 17-yard sack. And freshman linebacker Austin Young earned a pair of tackles and a 32-yard fumble recovery.

Butte (2-0) heads back out on the road to face No. 3 San Francisco next on Saturday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
