No. 8 Roadrunners Dominate No. 11 Sierra, 56-6

Rocklin, Calif. - The No. 8 Butte football team racked up 439 total yards of offense with the defense counting six sacks and a pair of picks, as the Roadrunners dominated No. 11 Sierra, 56-6, on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman quarterback Marcus Beamon went 4-for-6 for 126 yards, including a 74-yard long, with sophomore Rieger Sayre posting a 9-for-13 outing for 110 yards and a 31-yard pass. Both quarterbacks tallied touchdowns.

Freshman Caden Simmons was the recipient of the 74-yard bomb from Beamon, his lone catch of the game, while sophomore Will Jordan tallied a pair of receptions, including a 12-yard touchdown from Sayre. Freshman Gabe Garretson earned a pair of catches for 38 yards.

In the ground game, sophomore Christian Vaughn recorded his fifth 100-plus yard rushing game with 124 yards on 14 carries, including a 36-yard long, adding two scores. Beamon, Sayre, and freshman Takeshi Faupula each earned a rushing touchdown.

Freshmen Quintez Evans and Malachi Calhoun and sophomore Gabe Foster led the defense with Evans counting a pick-six in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard return, while Calhoun recorded a game-high tying nine tackles, including five solo, with 2.5 tackles for loss for 12 yards and two sacks for 10 yards. Foster was close behind with seven tackles, four solo, with three counted as sacks for 38 total yards. Sophomore Malcolm Colquitte also tallied a pick in the fourth quarter with a six-yard return.

Butte only had possession of the ball for 24:03, but outrushed Sierra 203-117 and averaged 12.4 yards per pass play versus the Wolverines' 5.8 per pass play. 

No. 8 Butte (6-2, 2-1) returns home to host Feather River next on Saturday, Nov. 4. The Roadrunners' sophomores will be honored pregame, as well as veterans and active military personnel will be recognized. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
