No. 8 Football Downs Feather River, 56-7

Oroville, Calif. - Sophomore quarterback Rieger Sayre tallied 285 passing yards for four scores as the No. 8 Butte football team downed Feather River, 56-7, on Saturday afternoon on Sophomore Day.

Sayre went 15-for-23 with a long of 82 yards, connecting with sophomore tight end Landon Cooper twice for touchdowns. Cooper ended the day with four receptions for 60 yards. Freshman Marcus Beamon was a perfect 3-for-3 for 46 yards in relief. Sophomore Will Jordan was the recipient of the 82-yard touchdown pass, earning 109 total yards on the day on three catches, while freshman Brandon Smith posted two receptions for 34 total yards.

In the ground game, sophomore Christian Vaughn chalked up 115 yards on seven attempts, counting a pair of touchdowns with a long of 84 yards. Sophomore Alex Cardona added 46 yards on four carries, while Beamon and sophomore Deremy Stubbs each earned a rushing touchdown with 45 and 18 total yards, respectively.

Overall, the Roadrunners racked up 589 yards of offense, only possessing the ball for 23:24.

Defensively, sophomore linebacker Aidan Sullivan led Roadrunners with 10 tackles, six solo, including 2.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup. Sophomore Malcolm Dewalt was close behind with seven tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup.

Butte (7-2, 3-1) wraps up the regular season at Shasta on Saturday, Nov. 11. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
