Quincy, Calif. - Sophomore Rolontae Knowles scored a game-high 27 points, but the Butte men's basketball team was edged by Feather River, 78-77, in the teams' conference opener on Saturday afternoon.
Knowles shot over 55 percent from the field, adding five boards. Freshman Anthony Montoya chipped in 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field with five assists and five steals.
The Roadrunners overcame a nine-point halftime deficit but fell just short in the final 20 minutes of the contest.
Butte (8-10, 0-1) continues conference play, heading to Redwoods next on Saturday, Jan. 14 for a 1 p.m. tip.
