Men's Soccer Wins Second Straight with Shutout of Merritt

Oroville, Calif. - Five Roadrunners found the back of the net to lead the Butte men's soccer team to its second-straight win with a 6-0 shutout of Merritt on Friday afternoon.

Freshman midfielder Daniel Alvarez Izquierdo opened the scoring for the Roadrunners in the second minute with sophomore Mohamed Benguellal and freshman Eugenio Kunz Quintanar picking up the assists.

Freshman Shahin Adwan wrapped up the first half scoring with an unassisted goal in the 19th minute before freshman Guillermo Pena Bertol netted a pair of goals for the Roadrunners in the second half with freshman Floris Zengerink Terhorst also tallying a score.

Sophomore keeper Louis Hester played all 90 minutes in the goal with a pair of saves.

Butte (2-3-4) opens Golden Valley Conference play on Friday, Sept. 29 at Redwoods. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
