Cross Country Competes at 3C2A Championships

Fresno, Calif. - On a cold, rainy day, the Butte men's cross country team finished 20th and the women's team placed 23rd at the 2023 3C2A Championships on Saturday morning.

Sophomore Robert Moncrief posted the best finish for the men's team, placing 72nd (21:59.2) in the 180-runner field. Freshman Phillip Logan placed just 0.3 seconds behind Moncrief in 74th place (21:59.5) with sophomore Cristofer Velazquez-Patino rounding out the team's top three in 102nd place (21:59.5)

On the women's side, freshman Jasmine Guzeldere was the Roadrunners' top finisher in 87th place (21:02.0) out of 167 competitors. Sophomore Risa Reynier, the team's lone returning state competitor, placed 120th (21:58.4) with sophomore Grace Becker finishing 136th (23:10.2)

The women's team qualified for the first time since 2015, and the men hadn't competed as a team at the state meet since 2016.
