No. 9 Softball Downs Solano

Oroville, Calif. - The No. 9 Butte softball team downed Solano, 14-3 (5) and 15-1 (5), on Thursday afternoon in a makeup contest that was rescheduled from February 25.

In game one, sophomore Alexis Detwiler led the Butte battery with a 3-for-4 outing with two doubles and a pair of RBI. Freshman Kylee Richhart went a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and a couple of RBI, and sophomore Hayley Sites went 2-for-2 with three runs and a double.

Freshman Avery Jolley (5-3) earned the complete-game win in the circle on four innings pitched, allowing five hits and fanning three.

Dewiler and Sites again led the offense in game two with Detwiler batting 3-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBI and runs. Sites counted a 2-for-3 outing with a double, two runs scored, and two RBI. Richhart made her one hit count with a three-RBI homer, and freshman Ella Jolley tallied a triple in her 3-for-4 performance with a couple of RBI and a stolen base.

Sophomore Maggie Smith (6-2) went 4.1 innings, scattering a couple of hits and striking out four.

Butte (12-5) returns to action, heading to Delta next on Monday, Mar. 13 to makeup the doubleheader previously scheduled for February 20.
