No. 6 Softball Splits on the Road at Redwoods

Eureka, Calif. - The No. 6 Butte softball team split at Redwoods, dropping the first game 5-4 in eight innings before rebounding with a 6-0 win on Wednesday afternoon.

In game one, sophomores Maggie Smith and Grace Stearns each earned a pair of singles, while freshman Kylee Richhart tallied a pair of RBI. Despite having the early 3-2 edge four complete, the Corsairs counted a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh before a walkoff error ended the contest.

Sophomore Kiya Hamar (3-1) was charged with the loss, coming in relief and throwing 3.1 innings. Freshman Avery Jolley started the game in the circle for the Roadrunners.

Three Roadrunners counted multi-hit games in the back end of the twinbill, led by Stearns' 2-for-4 performance with a double and triple. Freshman Diana Hull posted a 2-for-3 outing with a double, stolen base, and three RBI, while freshman Ella Jolley went 2-for-4.

In the circle, Smith (14-2) scattered four hits, while fanning three for the complete-game win.

Butte (26-7, 13-1) returns to action on Saturday, Apr. 15 at Shasta in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
