Softball Sweeps Top Conference Awards; Lands Eight on First Team

Oroville, Calif. - Sophomore Alexis Detwiler earned her second Golden Valley Conference Player of the Year honor to lead the sweep of the top conference honors, announced Friday.

Head Coach Stayce York was named Coach of the Year, and sophomores Maggie Smith and Grace Stearns were tabbed Pitcher of the Year and Catcher of the Year, respectively. Freshman outfielder Faith Epperson, freshman infielder Ella Jolley, freshman designated player Kylee Richhart, and sophomore shortstop Hayley Sites also earned first team nods.

Detwiler led the state at the plate, tallying 70 hits, including 15 doubles, eight triples, and nine home runs. She earned 59 RBI, while scoring 54 runs with eight stolen bases. She ended the regular season with a .551 batting average and 1.008 slugging percentage.

Smith played both ways this season, appearing at either first base or in the circle in all 39 games. She tossed 21 games in the circle, starting 19 with 10 complete games. Overall, she was 17-2 in 115 innings pitched. She posted a 1.70 ERA with 84 strikeouts (5.11 k/7). At the plate, she batted .350 with three doubles and 19 RBI.

Stearns played in all 39 games for the Roadrunners, earning 51 hits with 12 doubles, two triples, and three home runs with 21 RBI. She scored 29 runs on a .402 batting average.

Jolley appeared in 36 games, batting .405 with 49 hits, including eight doubles, three triples, and a pair of home runs. She counted 12 stolen bases and 37 runs with 27 RBI.

Epperson played in 33 games this season, tallying 31 hits with five doubles and two triples with a .408 batting average. She scored 18 runs with 18 RBI and six stolen bases.

Richhart appeared in 38 games, batting .395 with 49 hits, including 12 doubles and nine homers. She scored 28 runs, while tallying 50 RBI.

Sites played in all 39 games this season, recording 47 hits with 11 doubles, three triples, and three home runs. She added 28 RBI, 43 runs, and 10 stolen bases. Overall, she hit .353 with a .401 on-base percentage.
