Softball Sweeps Sacramento City

Sacramento, Calif. - Sophomore Kylee Richhart recorded a pair of extra base hits, including the go-ahead run in game one, to lead the Butte softball team to a sweep of Sacramento City, 2-1 and 7-3, on Saturday afternoon.

Richhart's lone hit of the game came in the sixth inning in game one, and she made it count with a solo shot to put the Roadrunners ahead. In game two, she went 1-for-3 with a RBI-double.

The Roadrunners recorded only four hits in game one before racking up 11 in game two behind multi-hit games by sophomore Isabella Saldana and freshmen Chloe Giannini, Midasia Wathen, Cabria Childers, and Emily Thurman. Childers, Thurman, and Saldana all tallied a double each with Wathen counting three RBI.

Freshman Breanna Williams (1-3) earned the complete-game win in the circle in game one with a pair of strikeouts, while Childers (2-2) tossed 6.2 innings, fanning four.

Butte (3-5) returns home to host Delta next on Monday, Feb. 19. The doubleheader begins at 12 p.m.
