Susanville, Calif. - The Butte softball team took the backend of the GVC-opening twinbill at Lassen, 4-3, falling 6-5 in the first game, on Thursday afternoon.
Freshman Ashley Thurman tallied a pair of RBI in the second game, while sophomores Riley Kucich and Kylee Richhart each earned a pair of hits each. Richhart counted the team's lone extra-base hit with a double.
In the circle, freshman Breanna Williams (2-7) tossed the complete game, allowing seven hits with a pair of strikeouts.
In game one, freshman Madison West counted a pair of RBI with a double, while freshmen Chloe Giannini and Midasia Wathen backed her up at the plate with a double and RBI each, respectively. Wathen went 2-for-3 in the game.
Freshman Emily Thurman (2-2) was charged with the complete-game loss despite fanning four.
Butte (6-14, 1-1) continues conference play, heading to Feather River on Saturday, Mar. 23 for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
