Oroville, Calif. - The Butte women's basketball team opened the 2022-23 campaign with a 72-59 win over Napa Valley on Tuesday evening.
The Roadrunners overcame a two-point deficit going into the half, outscoring the Storm 39-24 in the second half.
Sophomore Meghan Weinrich paced all scorers with 29 points on 51.8 percent shooting with 13 boards, five assists, three steals, and three blocked shots. Freshman Madalynn Bassett tallied 11 points off the bench with three treys. Sophomore Sanaya Shrader added 11 rebounds.
The Roadrunners (1-0) head to the Mt. SAC Tip-Off next. They will face Rio Hondo on Friday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.
