Women's Hoops Tops Long Beach; Advances to Tourney Championship

Walnut, Calif. - Freshman Sarah Tait scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Roadrunners to a 86-61 victory over Long Beach on Saturday evening. 

Tait shot 53.8 percent from the field, 4-for-8 from three-point range, with six rebounds. Freshman Jordan Arreola backed her up with 19 points, five boards, and four steals. And sophomore Tessa Kinney chipped in 18 points off the bench with seven rebounds.

Butte narrowly edged the Vikings by three points each quarter before outscoring Long Beach by 16 points, 24-8, in the fourth quarter to close the deal. The Roadrunners led by as many as 27 in game, coming as the final seconds ticked away in the final quarter.

Sophomore Meghan Weinrich earned a team-high 12 boards with four assists, four steals, and a pair of blocked shots, adding nine points.

The Roadrunners (3-0) will face Mt. SAC in the tournament title game. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
