No. 2 Roadrunners Take Consolation Title; Weinrich Named All-Tournament

San Francisco, Calif. - In the two teams' third meeting of the season, the No. 2 Butte women's basketball team took the series with a 62-56 win over Sierra to earn the consolation bracket title in the Rams Classic on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a six-point deficit going into the locker room at halftime, the Roadrunners earned a 10-point advantage to close out the contest after edging the Wolverines by a pair of points in the third quarter.

Four Roadrunners reached double figures, led by freshman Madalynn Bassett's 15. Sophomore Meghan Weinrich and freshman Sarah Tait chipped in 13 and 12, respectively, while sophomore Sanaya Shrader tallied another double-double with 10 points and 15 boards.

Weinrich was close to another double-double with nine boards, while adding six assists. Sophomore Tessa Kinney added eight rebounds off the bench.

Butte (15-2) has a break over the holidays before opening conference play at Feather River on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 3 p.m.
