Late Surge Propels No. 7 Butte over Lassen

Oroville, Calif. - Sophomore Meghan Weinrich posted a 21-point, 17-rebound effort to lead the No. 7 Butte women's basketball team to a 67-53 win over Lassen on Wednesday evening.

Weinrich added five assists and five steals with a commanding block in the first half. Freshman Jordan Arreola backed her up with 15 points, while freshman Madalynn Bassett chipped in 13 points off the bench.

Butte held the lead throughout the game, however, only holding a five-point lead going into the final 10 minutes. But 11 points and seven boards from Weinrich led to the team to gain a comfortable lead over the Cougars.

The Roadrunners (19-3, 4-1) look to take the GVC lead when they host Feather River for their Coaches vs. Cancer game on Saturday, Jan. 28. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
