Weinrich Named Back-to-Back MVP; Six Earn All-Conference

Redding, Calif. - Sophomore forward Meghan Weinrich was named Most Valuable Player for the second-straight season with the Butte women's basketball team tallying six total Golden Valley Conference honors, announced Saturday.

Weinrich is joined on the first team by sophomore Cassidy King and freshmen Jordan Arreola and Sarah Tait. Sophomore Sanaya Shrader was tabbed honorable mention, while freshman Madalynn Bassett earned All-Freshman Team honors.

Weinrich finished conference play averaging 17.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.8 steals per game. She led the team in all of the categories except assists.

King was the team's assist leader, posting 5.2 assists per game with 1.2 steals per game.

Arreola posted the team's third-best number for points per game with 12.8, adding 3.3 assists per game.

Tait averaged 13.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

Shrader was the team's second-leading rebounder, pulling down 7.4 boards per game, while averaging 8.4 points per game.

And Bassett was the hot shooter from beyond the arc, shooting 36.4 percent from long range, while averaging 9.1 points per game. She added 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

The top-seeded Roadrunners will face either No. 16 Merced or No. 17 Hartnell on Saturday, Feb. 25. Game time will be announced on Thursday, Feb. 23.
