No. 1N Roadrunners Advance to Final Four; Tally First 30-Win Season in Over 20 Years

Walnut, Calif. - The No. 1N Butte women's basketball team advanced to the 3C2A Final Four for the second-straight year, routing No. 4S Long Beach, 84-60, on Thursday afternoon in the 3C2A State Championship Quarterfinal Round.

The win marks the first time the Roadrunners have ecliped the 30-win mark since the 2002-03 squad went 31-3.

Freshman Jocelyn Medina paced all scorers with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting with three three-pointers, adding 10 rebounds and four assists. Freshmen Morgan Trigueiro and Campbell Vieg backed her up with 14 and 13 points respectively, while sophomores Madalynn Bassett and Aubrey Prunty chipped in 11 and 10 points. Vieg counted a game-high six assists and three steals.

Butte (30-1) will face No. 2S Glendale (29-2) next in the 3C2A State Championship Semifinals on Saturday, Mar. 16 at 1 p.m.
