Annie Ward joined the Butte women's basketball as an assistant coach in 2020. She adds value to the program in every aspect from recruiting to player development to in-game strategies. 

"I am very excited to add Annie back to my staff," Butte women's basketball head coach Tyler Newton said. "She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the game of basketball and will add a ton of value."

Ward previously coached with Newton at Pleasant Valley High School during the 2016-17 season, helping lead the team to a league championship, CIF section title, and a 22-7 overall record. 

As a player, Ward played for Chico State from 2011-15, leading the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament three times and to a CCAA Championship in 2012-13. She was known for her deep perimeter shooting and still claims she can outshoot anyone.

Ward is a special education teacher at a local elementary school, and recently earned her master's degree.
