Modesto, Calif. - The Butte women's soccer team counted seven shots on goal, but it fell at Modesto, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Samantha Finnegan tallied three of those shots with sophomore Amber Thorpe and freshman Mackenzie Leeds each earning a pair.
In the goal, freshman Deana Marshbanks earned six saves in her 90-minute effort.
Butte (1-1) returns home to host Folsom Lake on Friday, Sept. 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
