Redding, Calif. - The Butte women's soccer team blanked Shasta, 4-0, to open Golden Valley Conference play on Tuesday afternoon.

Four Roadrunners counted goals, started off by freshman Samantha Finnegan off a feed from freshman Acire Thomas in the seventh minute. Sophomore Amber Thorpe gave Butte the early 2-0 lead going into the half in the 38th minute before sophomores Emma Noe and Rylee Jellison found the back of the net int he 53rd and 81st minutes, respectively. Sophomore Sadie Weber and Thorpe earned the assists.

Freshman Deana Marshbanks counted the win in the goal, tallying four saves in the match.

Butte (3-6) remains on the road, heading to Redwoods next on Friday, Sept. 29 for an 11 a.m. contest.
