Women's Volleyball Introduces Interim Head Coach

Oroville, Calif. - The Butte women's volleyball team is excited to announce the hiring of Crystal Thomas as Interim Head Women's Volleyball Coach, announced Monday.

Thomas, who has served as an assistant coach for the Roadrunners, will take over the head coaching duties beginning May 28.

She replaces 10-year head coach David Davis, who will be stepping down as head coach on May 27.

Thomas played at Chico High School before transferring to East Tennessee State University. After her collegiate career was complete, she headed to play professionally in Europe in Croatia, Sweden, Finland, and Germany. At the conclusion of her playing career, she coached club volleyball and was a lead beach volleyball coach for Gold Medal Squared, working with Dane Selznik, Sinjin Smith, and Randy Stoklos.

"I have proudly been a student-athlete and assistant coach at Butte College," Thomas said. "Now I am excited for my next chapter at Butte. This program has done so much for me, and I look forward to continuing the legacy of the program."

After returning to Chico, she became a fitness professional, focusing on athletic strength and conditioning, postural restoration, breathing mechanics, and injury prevention/recovery.

The women's volleyball team returns to begin conditioning for the 2022 season on Monday, Aug. 1.
