Rocklin, Calif. - Despite holding a late lead in the final minutes, the Butte women's basketball team fell just short to host Sierra, 59-58, in the Sasha Brown Memorical Classic Championship on Saturday evening.
Sophomore Meghan Weinrich scored a game-high 21 points and 16 boards with five assists and four steals. Freshmen Madalynn Bassett and Sarah Tait both tallied nine points with Bassett adding four rebounds.
Butte (8-1) takes a short hiatus before heading to the 46th Annual Gilcrest Tournament, hosted by College of the Sequoias. The Roadrunners will face LA Valley in the opening round on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m.
